Ordinarily this would annoy us. There's no such thing as a preview for an advertisement. That's just another less-involved advertisement.
In the case of Mercedes-Benz and its new Kate Upton preview, we'll let it slide. The carmaker posted a video of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit model washing a car that's reportedly a preview of an advertisement that will air during Super Bowl XLVIII on Feb. 3.
But the teaser doesn't actually feature Upton washing a car. Instead, she plays an undersexed Mercedes owner watching her CLA get washed by a football team. It's at odds with everything you thought you knew about car commercials featuring blonde models, you see.
That bait and switch angered a lot of Internet commenters, some of whom vowed the chicanery would lead to a Mercedes boycott. This must upset the luxury-car maker, as Internet commenters who write "your crazy if u think this meens im bying a knew Marcaydez" probably make up a large percentage of their clientele.
