Coachella 2013: Tickets for First Weekend Sell Out Amid Technical Difficulties

The first weekend of the 2013 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival sold out Tuesday morning as buyers fought through site crashes and lock outs.

Those who wanted tickets to the first weekend of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival had to be quick on the trigger -- or in this case, the mouse -- Tuesday morning. The first weekend of the annual festival, scheduled for April 12-14, reportedly sold out just 15 minutes after ticket sales opened at 10 a.m. PT, according to The Los Angeles Times.

But logging into the site early didn’t guarantee eager fans a ticket. Technical issues and site delays prevented many people from purchasing a pass for weekend one. However, consumers were reportedly still purchasing tickets up to two hours after the website said that they were sold out, due to tickets in shopping carts that were not officially purchased.

Many complaints were filed with Front Gate Tickets, the company in charge of sales for the event. Its Facebook page gave buyers a glint of hope when they posted, “We have tons of people trying to buy guys! Give it a few and keep trying.”
After even more complaints, they posted again: “Oh there are SO many people buying. Hang tight, try again in a minute.... THANKS for all your patience!” Many patrons were still locked out of buying tickets, however, and they have been showing their frustration on the Coachella Facebook page.
While weekend one was the first to sell out, there are still passes available -- though it is unclear how many -- for weekend two (April 19-21). A weekend pass costs $349, however with a shuttle pass or overnight parking pass, the total for an average festival goer could reach over $400.
There are still limited quantities of weekend one passes available, but they are coupled with a travel package -- the cheapest of which amounts to $2,000.
